Liminal Silence takes place in Merzouga, on the edge of the Moroccan Sahara, where the dunes run to the horizon and the nights are among the darkest on earth. The retreat holds two kinds of stillness. By day it is silent: no small talk, no screens, no performing for anyone, with the time shaped by guided and solo meditation and slow walks in the sand.
By night, the attention turns outward. Away from every artificial light, the Milky Way is vivid overhead, and the sheer scale of it reaches something that words tend to miss. This is where many find what the desert has always offered those who come to it: a real sense of transcendence, of being a small and connected part of something immense.
The two halves work together. The silence quiets the noise inside; the night sky reminds you how large the world you are quiet within actually is.
